What one homeschool morning looked like….

by Kym on November 5, 2010

Library trip.

Great children’s Librarian….

came home with several good “boy” books.

Next morning I am on the computer and this is what Ron says. “Mom, where are all those tin cans we used for dinner?”

“In the recycling, Ron….WHY?”

“Oh, I am making a knife.”

“Okay, Ron. Be careful. Don’t cut yourself. Let me know if you need help.”

Joy and Monica,
I love creative kids, too. That is what I like most about having them at home. I think that organized school systems encourage teachers to be creative while forgetting that kids are creative. Worksheets, projects that everyone does the same way…even when the project is supposed to encourage creativity as part of the goal, there are so many other goals that the creative process is thwarted by all the limits set by the assignment. At least that is what I see.
But when a person sits down and sets their own parameters based on supplies at hand, or money, or their own goals… then something truly magical happens!

Megan, Thanks, we love you, too!
Stacia, Sadly, it broke….but now he has made a whole slew of arrows and is working on a bow! I bought him some gloves to protect his hands. He has a friend visiting and has drafted her into the arrow making business…gotta get some pictures.
