One minute, one day, one week…

by Kym on January 6, 2011

It is amazing how our lives can change from one breath to the next. We all know what I mean. One inhale…one exhale…and your life is completely different than it was the moment before.

David and I have had a week like that.

One day we are at the hospital for the birth of our son. The next day, we go to see him through the glass, help the birth mom and dad get home, and wait for when we can hold him. Precious sweet little boy. Formed in his mothers womb and made by God. Precious in every detail of his very being.

Wednesday.

Thursday. Inhale baby. Exhale…birth mom is having second thoughts.

Peace. Sweet Peace that only comes from knowing the ONE who formed each of us. Peace beyond human reasoning. (don’t get me wrong, tears flowed out of my eyes all day off and on, but peace and a sense of rightness was there the whole time. Knowing that whatever happened was the right thing.)

Friday.

Birth mom decides to parent. Inhale baby. Pray for them. For their life together and for the privilege of knowing both birth mom and baby for a while. Pray for birth dad. Exhale Goodbye.

Peace.

Inhale. Exhale.

Phone call from social worker. Inhale.

She said to us, this has never happened before, and it is so weird, but would you consider the “drop in” baby born Dec. 26?

Exhale.

He is in the NICU for feeding issues, was born at about 36 weeks. We said

YES!
She said, “I have already talked to his birth mom. She has already relinquished him. She would like to meet you, if you are interested.”
YES!
YES!
YES!
So, we went to meet her and she said
YES!
And on 1-1-11, we met our son. Precious sweet little boy. Formed in his mothers womb and made by God. Precious in every detail of his very being.
Inhale. Exhale.
Peace.

Your beautiful son brings so much joy to my heart.

I heard about your blog from Traci Loux. What a Precious, Precious Boy you have! Your family will be in my Prayers as you are apart. And, for feeding to become a natural process for your little guy.

Peace. I feel it too. I look forward to being a little – ok, a lot closer together soon. We are where we should be for now, though, and I know it is right. In the meantime you’ve expressed perfectly where we are and what we are about and Who we are about. Thank you. I love you.
