Coffee and Shopping

Many of you know that we moved to North Carolina to be near family. It was a blessing that David’s company let him telecommute until the contract ran out. Then David, for the first time since college, was without a job. 40 days….it has been quite a learning and trusting experience for all of us. We have learned to navigate the internet searching for jobs, the unemployment centers for both states, and David has filled out more applications than he can count. He was specific in looking for a job that kept him here in western North Carolina, which limits the options quite a bit!
This week he started 2 jobs! One at the local Starbucks kiosk in the grocery store (perfect for David-who loves coffee) and one as seasonal help at Belk’s-a department store similar to Dillards. He will work in the men’s department. Now, for those of you who know David, he loves nice clothes…I have slummed him down a lot, but he loves to dress up, wear a nice shirt etc. So, even though neither of these are the high paying power jobs that he would love to have, they are both suited (ha) to him.
If you are going to Ingall’s in Waynesville, stop by and have a coffee! David will make you a great one!
And, just keep in mind that once again, I see God’s sense of humor at work here. We don’t know how all this will play out, but we do know WHO is in charge!

At least he has found a job. I know the economy here is awful- the papermill is shutting down for a month and may or may not open back up, Century boats is closed until after Jan. 1, even our little office did away with a few positions.
